Graphics
Graphics or the graphic arts is the generic term for all artistic, technical and industrial drawings (drawings done by hand, commercial graphics) as well as the reproducing arts, that is, prints produced manually by multi-replica processes. More narrowly defined, the term is applied solely to the making of art prints (woodcut, copperplate engraving, etching, lithography, etc), which are all visual arts genres. Artistic prints are regarded as works in their own right and are independent of models. An artist uses the various printmaking techniques and exploits their various properties to express something in specific aesthetic terms.
