Egg tempera / Egg-and-oil tempera

Egg tempera is a particular type of tempera paint. The primary vehicle for the pigments is an egg yolk and water emulsion. Linseed oil or other suitable oils may be added as binders. Egg tempera paints have been traditionally used in icon painting.
