Contemporary art
The term contemporary art is a generalising term in the German sense for works of art produced at the time in which they were also publicly perceived. In general, in terms of reception theory, contemporary art means art of fairly recent date that has achieved some recognition during the artist's lifetime. A contemporary artist is one who aims his works at the here and now. In English usage, contemporary art means art of the present day, that is, art that is being produced now.
