Auction house Munich
The Munich auction house Ketterer Kunst is one of the most successful German auction houses. In combination with reliability and perfect service, the auctions in Munich and Hamburg offer great artworks by famous artists from all periods, especially Modern, Post War and Contemporary Art, as well as rare antiquarian books. In 1954 Wolfgang Ketterer opened an art gallery in Stuttgart and organized first auctions. In 1965 he relocated to Munich and moved into Villa Stuck. He established the house for modern art auctions. In 1988 the company took over the renowned Hamburg book- and art auction house F. Dörling, which was founded in 1795. In 1994 Robert Ketterer, son and present owner, took over the auction house. He increased success of the Munich auction house Ketterer Kunst, with 3,500 square meters ground area on three floors and an art display window with spectacular dimensions of 8 x 23 meters, the "House for Art" opened in Munich-Riem in direct vicinity of the New Munich Fairgrounds in 2008. Next to the classic saleroom auctions in Munich and Hamburg, internet live auctions are also regular events.
