Werner Heldt
Biography
The painter and drawer Werner Heldt was born in Berlin in 1904. He attended the Kunstgewerbeschule in Berlin from 1923 to 1924. The same year the artist started to study at the Berlin Academy. In 1930 Heldt went to Paris, followed by a stay in Mallorca from 1933 to 1935. Back in Berlin, he worked in his studio from 1936 to 1940. Heldt was drafted into military service in the same year and was held in captivity until 1946. He was awarded the Kunstpreis Berlin in 1950 and died in Sant'Angelo on Ischia in 1954.
