Giambattista Bodoni
Biography
Giambattista Bodoni was born on February 16, 1740, in Saluzzo (Piemont). Beginning in 1768, Bodoni managed the ducal printing press in Parma. He later established his own typescript foundry. Bodoni constantly strove to produce the most perfect book of his time. The many, different typefaces of the various foundries are all known today under the collective name "Bodoni." Giambattista Bodoni died on November 29, 1813, in Parma.
