Charles Lapicque was born in Theizé (Rhone, France) on 6 October 1898. Lapicque finished an apprenticeship as an engineer but felt more attracted to arts. From 1928 he continued to improve his knowledge in the field of painting autodidactically. Finally, he quit his job as an engineer in 1943 and started a life as an independent artist. His painting and Druckgraphik were characterized by dynamic compositions and bright colors. Charles Lapicque died aged 90 in Orsay or Paris (Essonne, France) on 15 July 1988.
