The plates depicting the differing planetary systems (Descartes, Kopernikus, Ptolemäus, Tycho Brahe), milky way, armillary sphere, compass rose, globe, worldmap in 2 hemispheres and further astronom. illustrations. - Title of vol II (titled Atlas historique et géologique and dat. 1762) depicts a splendid view of an ancient building, further with a map of the Ancient world, 4 maps of Europe, the biblical Genesis, partial maps of Europe, Africa, Asia and America, polar maps etc. - Maps and illustrations between 2 text columns (without the usual ornamental borders). - 4 ll. with marginal tear (2 backed), 2 plates with waterstain, the last 3 ll. with small crease. Binding rubbed. - Fine and clean copy with prints on firm laid paper.
