• For a long time part of the collection of Sophie Kiesel, the wife of the former director of the Pfalzgalerie, Kaiserslautern, Carl M. Kiesel (1903-1971).
• Italophile: The colorful depiction of Sorrento was created during one of the numerous summer stays in Italy.
• The villa is possibly Villa Gorki, which plays a prominent role in the works the artist made that summer (Lenz / Billeter 1951 / 20-23)
.
