One signed on verso, as well as each inscribed with number. With typographically inscribed edition label as well as with stamped number on passtedown. One of 15 executed copies from an edition that was initially planned to comprise 20 copies. On firm structured paper. 23,6 x 33,6 cm (9,2 x 13,2 in), size of sheet. Glass plates: Each ca. 26,6 x 21 cm (10,4 x 8,2 in).

The Fibonacci series of numbers, which is eponymous for this object, occupies a predominant role in Mario Merz's oeuvre. The artist presumably is the most important representative of the Italian movement "Arte Povera". The series, which goes back to one of the Middle Age's most famous mathematicians, Leonardo Fibonacci, is computed from the addition of the preceding number, e.g.0-1-1-2-3-5-8-13-21 etc. To Mario Merz this series symbolizes the growing power of creation, which embodies all life in his work. For this reason the 5 feather drawingson verso are inscribed with the Fibonacci series (1, 1, 2, 3 and 5). [KP].
