Title, IX pp., 3 ll., 122 pp., 1 blank l.

Manfredi - shows the crucification of Saint Agnes Takeda on 9 Dec. 1603. The title vignette by A. Bolzoni after Fr. Pellegrini. With the dedication for pope Pius VI. and the Notizie cavate dalla storia della chiesa del Giappone by G. Crasset at the beginning. - Very fine, mostly clean and broad-margined print, in a skilfully made 20th century master binding. - Spine faintly discoloured.
First edition, scarce Bodoni edition. - Engr. frontispice, vignettes and initials in the text. Modern brown leather binding by master O. Dorfner, Weimar, with rich gilt decoration. - Spine slightly discoloured.
