Boxhorn). - Hollstein VIII, 37. - Andresen II, 32ff. - First edition, very rare! - The magnificent plates in this rare first edition from 1574 show Italian monuments, tombs, wall graves, tombstones and urns from the ancient world to renaissance, amongst them works by Alciati, Dante, Erasmus, M. Ficino, Otto von Freising, Petrarca, Pico della Mirandola, Poggio Bracciolini, Reuchlin and others. - The remarkable copper title with a broad figural renaissance border. - Plates numb. 1-125 and 4 plates as supplements (3, 13, 21, 22). - Plate 94 missing (tomb of Aurelius Romanus) and the front flying endpaper. Title closely cut in the upper margin, 1 plate with blank spot (no loss of printed matter), 2 plates with small marginal notes. Clasps partly removed; othwerwise nice, well-preserved copy in renaissance style binding. - "Opera di qualche rarita, la quale conserva alcune memorie gia perite e disperse" (Cicognara).
