Friedrich Meckseper constructs bold compositions from enigmatic objects that are reminiscent of still lifes. They are technically perfect reproductions, but their constellation follows a free-spirited approach. It is as if Friedrich Meckseper explained the world by means of quiet things. Their details are depicted with meticulousness and extremely fine brushstrokes, thus bringing the objects to life. His paintings invite us to question contexts and to view certain images with a little mischief. Friedrich Meckseper first completed an apprenticeship as a mechanic at Robert Bosch GmbH before he decided to attend the art academies in Stuttgart and Berlin. It is this background that makes him so confident when it comes to depicting things. He can breathe life into machines.
