The collector and gallery owner Daniel Cordier is not only a well-known figure of the French art scene; as historian he also occupied an important role in the Resistance. His activity as gallery owner ended as early as in 1964 when he had to close his gallery, founded in 1954, for financial reasons. Temporarily he also operated two branches in Frankfurt and New York. Next to his publications on historical questions, he also pursued his passion for art.

PROVENANCE: Collection Daniel Cordier, Paris.

EXHIBITION: Julius Bissier, Galerie Daniel Cordier, Paris 1960, cat. no. 70 with illu.
