• Created during the artist's trip to Assisi in 1920.
• Embedded in atmospheric landscapes, the Italian town with its tower of the famous Basilica of San Francesco inspired the devout Catholic to paintings, watercolors and drawings.
• Bizarre trees in the foreground open up a view of the hilly landscape bathed in warm, atmospheric colors.
• Exhibited at Hans Goltz in Munich just one year after it was created and most recently in the city of the artist's birth, which dedicated a special exhibition to the works from Assisi in 2020.

In good condition. Craquelure in places, particularly in the more impasto areas of the image, some slight foxing. Small retouches, predominantly in the margins. Small losses of color to the right edge of the image.The condition report was compiled in daylight with the help of an ultraviolet light and to the best of knowledge.
