Oil on cardboard, partly scraped, belatedly laid on canvas.
Lohberg 1861. Lower left signed and dated. Verso, according to the catalogue raisonné, originally signed and dated as well as titled (not visible because of the lamination). Verso inscribed by a hand other than that of the artist . 75 x 100 cm (29.5 x 39.3 in). [JS].
• Large-format composition by the important protagonist of German Informalism.
• Particularly balanced between dynamic gesture and contemplative colors.
• Pioneering technique: Progressive use of scratching and scraping, a pioneering technique for Karl Otto Götz's painting right through to Gerhard Richter's abstract squeegee paintings.

In good condition, minimally rubbed in places and with a few small brown spots or adhesions. The edges partially minimally bumped.
