Epistolary for the use of Amien. Latin manuscript on vellum. Northern France, around 1400. 171 ll. Size of sheets 28,7 : 20,6 cm. Text area 19,8 : 11,4 cm. Gothic handwriting in dark brown ink. 20 lines, slugged. With 15 large decorative initials in sheet gold and colors with tendril borders in gold and colors , the opening initial with fullpage tendril border and side borders in similar color make, as well as numerous one- to three-line fleuronné initials in blue or red . - Early, presumably contemp. wooden boards on 6 bands with vellum covering, coated with red velvet in 17th century, remains of former metal buckles, gilt edges and vellum endpapers.

Complete and well-preserved epistolary, written for the church St. Martin-en-Bourg in Amiens. Text for the use of Amien and contains a larger invocation of Saint Firmin, patron saint of Amien. Verso of leaf 170 with an erased entry from the 15th century, which is still visble under UV light: "Hic epistolarius liber est sancti martini ecclesie ambianis civitatis". Additionally the blank rear side of the last leaf with name "S. Martin", written in decorative 15th century majuscles. Also, the covering on the rear board shows an impression of a large metal fitting with illustration of St. Martin on a horse before the gates of Amien, sharing his cloak with the beggar.
Text with readings from the gospels and epistles from the New Testament, starting with the first Advent Sunday (l. 1) to the Advent vigil the following year. Followed by Sacramentary of the vigils of Saint Andrew (verso of l. 121) up to Saint Linus, and the Commune Sanctorum (recto of l. 140), followed by a consecration of a church (recto of l. 166) and readings for other masses.
Minor thumbing in places and slightly soiled, few small rubbed or wiped spots, all in all well-preserved. - Flying endpaper with longer entry regarding acquisition from the book dealer Dolin from Amiens on 23 July, 1818. The entry is not signed, however, it is very likely that it was written by J. A. J. de Lignières de Bommy, whose armorial bookplate is on the opposite side.
