Janssonius. - Gerardi Mercatoris et J. Hondii Appendix Atlantis, oder Ander Theil des Welt-Buchs: Darinnen viel unterschiedliche Newe und Weitläuftige Beschreibungen .. von Teutschland, Franckreich, .. auch einer und der anderen Indien begrieffen. Alles in gute Ordnung gebracht. With copper title and 127 double-page copper cards (of 128; 2 multiple folded) as well as 1 additionally copper map. Amsterdam, J. Janssonius 1636. Contemp. vellum. Koeman Me 44. - Very rare, almost complete copy, with an additional map of Brandenburg. - The Appendix Atlantis was made as addition for the first German edition of the Atlas novus from 1633 (therefore "Ander Theil"). Owners of this first edition only had to acquire the Appendix if they wanted to have a complete copy of the increased new edition of the Newen Atlas from 1636. - Lacking map of Leon with Bay of Biscay. Mostly somewhat browned and mostly in lower corners (affecting image) with waterstains, ca. 12 maps with folding tear at bottom (most affecting image), ca. 7 maps with creasemarks, world map with restored breakage at bottom and defective spots as well as creasemarks, map of the poles with small mended piece of corners and 3 rebacked marginal splits. All in all well preserved copy, very rare in this completeness.
Rare and almost complete copy of the "Appendix Atlantis", which accompagnied and completed the second German edition of the "Atlas novus" from 1636. Engraved title and 127 (of 128) doublepage engr. maps, with one extra map of Brandenburg. Contemp. vellum. - Lacking the map of Northern Spain with the province of Leon and Biscaya. Mostly somewhat browned and mainly in the lower corners waterstained (affecting the illustration), about 12 maps with tear to fold (mostly affecting the illustration), about 7 maps with longer crease, the world map with restored break in the paper along the platemark and few defective spots, the polar chart with remargined corner and 3 rebacked marginal tears. Overall good copy, and very rare with this nearly complete number of maps.
