Works from Nay's last years of creation are characterized by a concentration of color and form. He realizes an ultimate degree of tension in both the composition, as well as the colors, which also becomes obvious in this watercolor. The magical red, which Nay increasingly used at that time, gives intensity to the work's expression. Nay adds the eye motif to the dwindling discs and thus reinvents them. This work is especially appealing for the interplay of the red and blue shades, which, mysterious and demanding at the same time, evoke a world in which romantic and boldness meet.
