Liebermann presumably made this pastel in Noordwijk aan Zee in preparation of the oil painting "Badende Knaben" (Eberle 1909/10), today in possession of the Kunsthaus Zürich.
Small and appealing pastel study.
The authenticity of this work has kindly been confirmed orally by Drs. Margreet Nouwen, Berlin. We are grateful for her kind expert advice.
