Cox I, 389; Engelmann I, 164. - First edition of the travelogue by the Frenchman Levaillant, which was published several times. - Contains the plate La Hottentote, which was replaced with an illustrationm of a tiger in later editions, as well as plates with views of the Cape of Good Hope, natives, giraffes and others. - Somewhat foxed and partly brown-stained, 1 folding plate with crease mark and small brown stains. Binding scraped and bumped, spine ends chipped.
