Photo album documenting a stay of the German ship SMS Cormoran on Samoa in 1899-1900. The photographs made by some "W. V." (monogr. on front board, sizes between 11,5 : 14,5 cm and 14 : 20,5 cm) show the ship and its crew (among them Captain Emsmann, serving on the Cormoran in 1899-1900 ), official celebrations and flag salute on the island together with natives (presumably in connection with the Samoa Treaty between the United States, Germany and Great Britain regulating Samoa's division), the crew taking bathes, harbour of Pago-Pago, Apia etc., villages, huts, waterfalls etc. With contemp. captions below the photographs. - Photographs slightly foxed. Edgeworn, spine lacking.
