"A work more notorious than famous, one of the filthiest books in world literature" (Faber du Faur). "Ce livre est un recueil de recettes données très sérieusement, et flanquées d'observations sur les maladies guéries par leur emploi." (Luc) - Besides his medical activities (among others personal physician of the prince-bishop of Münster and municipal physician in Eisenach) also wrote natural-philosophical, historical and writings on popular science. He was member of the Societas Florigerae ad Pegnensum, the Fruitbearing Society and the German academy of natural scientists Leopoldina as of 1675. - Somewhat browned, last ll. with traces of worming in the lower white margin, frontispiece with small marginal defects, front flying endpaper removed. Spine slightly rubbed. Fine copy.
