The plates are of particular interest and include many signed by Hogarth which form part of his early work. They illustrate antiquties, objets d'art, and scenes of the eastern life. Especially interesting is a plate showing a dance at a Greed wedding, with each member of the party dressed in a different costume." (Blackmer) - Fehlen die Taf. With 2 engr. titles, 2 engr. title-vignettes and 49 (of 51) partly folding copperplates and maps. Contemp. calf. - Slight even browning in places, few leaves slightly stained, 1 vol. at end minim. waterstained in upper margin; small collector's stamp to title and last leaf. Binding strongly rubbed and bumped. Else inside clean and broadmargined copy.
