Einzige Ausgabe und Frühwerk des bekannten Alchemisten Becher, der die Kompilation in Art der großen Kräuterbücher erstellte. Die vier Teile bestehen aus dem Thier-Buch , Kräuterbuch (unter Verwendung der über 1000 Holzstöcke zu Mattiolis Kräuterbuch von 1586; vgl. hierzu Schelenz), Mineralogia und der Schola Salernitana in der von Villanova kommentierten Fassung. Ein Anhang behandelt das Destillieren und den Aderlaß. - Kollation: 4 (st. 5) Bll., 104 S.; 632 S.; 88 S.; 164 S., 14 Bll. - Fehlt 1 Bl. der Vorrede. Gebräunt und stockfleckig, unt. Bundsteg vereinz. mit Wurmspuren, gest. Titel im Fuß- und Seitensteg angerändert (Teilverlust der Verlagsangabe), erste 2 Bll. tls. mit hinterl. Randläsuren, 1 Bl. der Vorstücke mit kl. Fehlstellen.

With illustr. engr. title, 3 copperplates and ca. 1200 woodcuts in text. 19th cent. half vellum with label on spine. - Lacking 1 leaf of the prelims. Browning and foxing, here and there worming at lower margin, engr. title remargined at foot and side (loss of printed matter), first 2 leaves with marginal defects (partly backed), 1 preliminary leaf with small defective spots.
