Bahnhofskiosk. 1925/26.
Pencil drawing.
Monogrammed lower left. On delicate paper. 27,8 x 21 cm (10,9 x 8,2 in), size of sheet.
LITERATURE: Paul Fuhrmann. Painting, watercolors, prints and drawings from the "Sturm Days", catalog 1 for the 32 sales exhibition, Galerie am Sachsenplatz, Leipzig 7 February - 3 March, 1976, cat. no. 50 (no illu.; for the painting see cat. no. 5, with illu. in black and white on p. 26).
Draft for the oil painting "Bahnhofskiosk" from 1926, which today is in possession of the Nationalgalerie in Berlin. On the one hand the drawing shows his occupation with Dadaism, as well as Paul Fuhrmann's interest in collage technique, in this work the artist unites both parameters in a fruitful symbiosis. Another unmistakable feature are motifs from big city life, which lures with its wide range of consumer goods and impresses with its technical progress. [CB/KP]
