Die zweite Folge zum Neuen Testament in sechster Ausgabe. - "Cette édition, qui reproduit page pour page les éditions de 1556, renferme comme elle quatre-vingt-seize figures sur bois du Petit Bernard dont le portrait de Saint Jean en double. - Assez bon tirage." (Cartier) - Die detailreiche Bordüre mit teils grotesken Zwerg-Gestalten (Cartier A.13). - Breitrandiges Exemplar in einem dekorativen Einband.
Both series of the delicate bible illustrations by Bernard Salomon, called Le Petit Bernard (cf. Mortimer 87 and 85). Second series in sixth edition from 1579, a reprint of that from 1556. Bound together in a fine 19th cent. darkblue morocco, richly gilt à la dentelle. - I: With arabesque woodcut title-border, 247 woodcuts by Salomon and 2 woodcut printer's devices on title (vipers) and at end ("lac d'amour"). 131 nn. ll. (lacking last blank). - II: With fig. woodcut titleborder (dwarfs), 96 woodcuts (2 rep.) and 2 woodcut printer's devices on title and at end as above. 52 nn. ll. - Broadmargined copy.
