Motifs and style of both sheets are part of a group of drawings occupied with the theme of sitting and squatting figures, the body parts dissolved in dynamic geometrical figuration. According to an explanation in the catalog raisonné, Thomas Ring called this series "Menschen-Serie". [KP].
