Kat. Schleswig-Holstein I, 730. - Lübker-Schröder 1291. - Engelmann I, 492. - First and only edition of the rare description of the island of Föhr. - Better copy with the decorative silk binding and the two additional plates. showing the north Frisian coast before the second Marcellus Flood or 'Grote Mandrenke' in 1362 (after J. Mejer) with small side maps of Föhr in 1651, and the island in 1823. The coloured plates show a nice general view of Wyk auf Föhr (folding), the granite baptismal font in Nieblum and two depictions of locals and the Wyk women's costume, the two additional plates (on a loose sheet of smoother paper) with trial proofs of the costumes in an uncoloured state. - Rear endpaper with autogr. dedication, signed by the author to Mary Wedell "zum freundlichen Andenken froher Tagee auf Föhr" ['remembering the merry days spent on Föhr', dated May 1824. - Plates slightly foxed in places, maps with few rebacked minimal tears or holes in the folding. Spine ends chipped. - Fine copy of the rare writing with a local importance.
