Zugleich stellt das Werk einen der hochwertigen und heute seltenen Drucke aus der Offizin von Juan de Brocar in Alcalá de Henares dar, dessen Arbeiten dort für die Jahre 1538-1552 nachgewiesen sind. "In 1541, the Rhetorica en lengua Castellana, attributed to Miguel de Salinas, appeared from Brocar's press. A beautifully printed book, quarto in size, it has a title in red and black, within borders, and the Arms of Spain on the verso, similarly enclosed. A book of considerable interest, and one which Fernandez, in his description of the Alcalá books in the Library of the Escorial, describes as 'esta obra rara y preciosa'." (Lyell) - Etw. gebräunt, tlw. fleckig und wasserrandig und mit Marginalien von alter Hand. Deutl. Wurmspuren (zumeist im Steg), Titel mit hinterl. Papierausschnitten, Einträgen von alter Hand und mit kl. Sammlerstempel (ebenso das l. Bl.). Exemplar aus der Bibliothek Fernandez-Guerra (Vorsatz gestempelt).Rare first edition. Woodcut-titleborders and woodcut-arms. Contemp. vellum. - Slightly browned, partly stained and with entries by old hand, throughout worm traces (mostly in the margins). Small title-fragments cut out, title and last leaf with small collectors stamp. Fernandez-Guerra copy (endpapers stamped).
