Lower left monogrammed, dated and titled. On thin board by Schoellershammer (with the blindstamp). 51 x 37 cm (20 x 14.5 in), the full sheet. [EH].
• Made on a trip to the south of France in 1929.
• A year later, he revisited the scene in the oil painting "Straßenbau in Arles" (Lipps-Kant 132).
• The first owner was the Ulm art collector and manufacturer Martin Bilger, who was an important patron of the artist for several years.
• Paul Kleinschmidt attained international recognition in 1931 with his participation in the exhibition 'Germain Paintings and Sculptures' at the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
PROVENANCE: Martin Bilger Collection, Ulm (with the collector's stamp on the reverse).
