Tübingen. 1920.
Lithograph.
Signed and dated. From an edition of 80 copies. On JW Zanders wove paper (with the watermark). 48.3 x 38 cm (19 x 14.9 in). Sheet: 57,3 x 46,7 cm (22,5 x 18,3 in).
[CH].
• Heckel places the "Hölderlinturm", the tower once inhabited by Friedrich Hölderlin (1770-1843) in Tübingen's old town directly on the Neckar, at the center of the depiction.
• The river crossing the depiction leads the viewer's gaze into the depths and is cleverly used by Heckel to reflect the buildings.
• In the same year, Heckel created a closely related painting of the same name (Brücke-Museum Berlin).
