Tanzendes Paar. 1909.
India Inkpinselzeichnung auf Postkarte.
On a stamped postcard. 14 x 9 cm (5.5 x 3.5 in), size of sheet.
Postcard to Karl Schmidt-Rottluff with the postage stamp Varel (Oldenburg) from December 10, 1909 inscribed: "Fahre Montag hier weg über Hamburg. Bester Gruss Dein Erich". [SM].
• The medium of the postcard developed into a genre in its own right in 20th century art.
• Heckel discovered Dangast as an artistic retreat in 1907 and made regular study visits until 1912.
• In dance, the "Brücke" artists found the ideal motif for direct and unadulterated expression.
The work is listed in the Erich Heckel Estate, Hemmenhofen on Lake Constance. We are grateful to Mrs Renate Ebner and Mr Hans Geissler for their kind support in cataloging this lot.
