Editio princeps der Pentateuch-Homilien des Origines, des größten und gelehrtesten Kirchenvaters in einem prachtvollen, seltenen Aldus-Druck. - Die schöne Druckermarke am Schluß stellt eine Zäsur in der Verlagsgeschichte dar: "This is in fact the first of the folio-sized devices, and it appears for the first time on the final verso of the Origen of February 1503. This appears to be a New Style date .." (Fletcher S. 53). - Stellenw. leicht wasserrandig (erste Bll. deutlicher), vereinz. kl. Wurmspuren (Buchstabenverlust), zahlr. zeitgenöss. Marginalien in Blaßrot, Titel mit ergänztem Eckabschnitt und altem Bibl.-Stempel. Einbd. mit Gebrauchsspuren. Exlibris der Aldinen-Slg. Stelio Valentini.

First edition of Origines' sermons on the Pentateuch (translation by Hieronymus), finely printed by Aldus. Very rare, no copy in ABPC. With woodcut printer's device at end. 19th cent. half calf with small armorial centrepiece (worn). - Partly slight waterstaining (first leaves somewhat stronger), here and there small wormtraces, numerous contemp. marginalia in pale red, title with mended cutout to lower corner and old libr. stamp. Bookplate Stelio Valentini.
