Signed, dated and titled in lower right. On creme Ingres laid paper. 48.5 x 62 cm (19 x 24.4 in), the full sheet.
The work show a mountain landscape in the Engadin. [JS].
• A mountain backdrop, portrayed with great poise, masterfully integrating the creme white of the partially untouched paper into the composition in a kind of negative process.
• Ornamentally understood landscape impression, which oscillates between representational and abstract perception due to the zoom-like detail and the division into mostly monochrome color areas.
• Ercih Heckel, together with Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, Karl Schmidt-Rottluff and Fritz Bleyl, was one of the founding members of the Expressionist group "Brücke".
The work is registered at the Erich Heckel Estate, Hemmenhofen on Lake Constance.
