Objekt. 1969.
Ligh -Relief. Movable aluminum element and aluminum panel, mounted in silver-coated wooden object box.
Verso signed. Unique object. 60.5 x 50.5 x 7 cm (23.8 x 19.8 x 2.7 in). [JS].
• The Frankfurt artist Hermann Goepfert is still one of the largely undiscovered representatives of the European "ZERO" movement.
• In line with the "ZERO" belief in a radical new artistic beginning, his work has been based on the non-color white since the late 1950s and also included metallic reflective bodies from the 1960s onwards.
• Light became an active element in the three-dimensional composition, which it visually set in motion through illumination, shadowing and reflection.
• Works by Hermann Goepfert were on display in the major "ZERO" exhibition at the Martin Gropius Bau, Berlin, in 2015.
• A comparable work is in the collection of the Städel Museum, Frankfurt am Main.
PROVENANCE: Galerie Ursula Lichter, Frankfurt a. Main (with the stamp on the reverse).
Private collection Southern Germany.
The plate and the movable metal rods with isolated slight traces of oxidation, rubbing and dirt. The object box with traces of wear, primarily in the edges, there partly with superficial loss of color.
