o. T. 1965.
Oil on panel.
130 x 183 cm (51.1 x 72 in).
[AR].
• Large-format work from the artist's predominantly abstract late work.
• Amorphous forms and surfaces in bright colors and of captivating elegance characterize the works of this period.
• As early as 1931, the painter abandoned figurative art, was ostracized by the National Socialists and fled with his Jewish wife to Mallorca in 1933, before finding a new home in the south of France.
• From the artist's estate, offered on the international auction market for the first time.
PROVENANCE: From the artist's estate (with the estate stamp on the reverse).
Private collection Southern Germany (acquired from the above).
LITERATURE: Dorothea Eimert, Heinrich Maria Davringhausen. Monographie und Werkverzeichnis, Cologne 1995, no. 786 (illustrated).
In good condition. Very occasional minor light rubbing and adhesions. The right purple color form irregular in its application, but this is probably part of the work's nature. The painted wooden surface is attached to a stabilizing wooden frame with small nails along the edges of the picture, probably also part of the work's nature. The condition report was compiled in daylight with the help of an ultraviolet light and to the best of knowledge.
