Signed in lower right. On creme wove paper. 39.8 x 50.3 cm (15.6 x 19.8 in), nearly the full sheet. [CH].

• The female nude has been at the center of Karl Schmidt-Rottluff's artistic work since 1911.
• At the time the drawing was created, the artist was already looking back on a great artistic career.
• A few years earlier, a comprehensive monograph with a provisional catalogue raisonné of Will Grohmann's oil paintings was published.
• In 1964, Schmidt-Rottluff's works were shown in a large-scale retrospective in Hanover, Essen, Frankfurt am Main and Berlin.
• Schmidt-Rottluff also initiated the construction of the Brücke Museum in the 1960s by donating 75 of his own works to the state of Berlin

The work is registered in the archive of the Karl and Emy Schmidt-Rottluff Foundation, Berlin.
