Mediterranean life plays an important role in Picasso's graphic creation. The faun, bucolic feasts and bacchanalias are motifs the artist used to express his sensuality and vitality. In this ideal depiction with ancient and contemporary elements Picasso illustrates a southern afternoon. The differentiated use of light and shade makes for a very balanced composition that is characterized by a harmonious atmosphere. [SM].
