• From a group of paper works in which Hans Hofmann examined the abstraction of a chair.
• In 1933 he opened the Hofmann School of Fine Arts in New York, which had a strong influence on the development of Abstract Expressionism in the USA.
• Lee Krasner and Helen Frankenthaler were among his students.
• He participated in documenta II in Kassel in 1959, and in the XXX. Biennale in Venice in 1960.
• His works are in many important collections like the Museum of Modern Art and thec Peggy Guggenheim Collection in New York, the Städel Museum in Frankfurt a. Main and the Centre Pompidou in Paris

In good condition. With very few isolated spots of slight craquelure, margins with small handling marks and creases. With two tiny pinholes in top center.
