Schapire R 60. Signed and inscribed with the work number "2210 St". Dated by a hand other than that of the artist on the reverse. On firm wove paper. 23.2 x 29.4 cm (9.1 x 11.5 in). Sheet: 37,4 x 43,5 cm (14,7 x 17,1 in).

• Deep black, burred print with harmonious plate tone.
• Dance and motion are key motifs in Kirchner's, Pechstein's and Schmidt-Rottluff's oeuvres since the formation of the "Brücke".
• A copy of this rare etching is in the collection of the Museum Kunstpalast, Düsseldorf.
• Copies of the very akin etchings "Tänzerin II" and "Tänzerin III" are in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art, New York, and the Buchheim Museum, Bernried.

In good condition. Very few, tiny print irregularities, mainly on the left and below the head. The wide margins evenly slightly browned and partially with minimal handling creases. In the area of the upper edge of the sheet with faint stains caused by the mounting as well as with two small, professionally rebacked paper skinnings or paper blemishes. Also with a skillfully closed tear in upper right edge, barely visible from recto. [JS]
