First published in Salamanca in 1563. - The work is regarded to be the first systematic account of theological epistemology and methodology, which made Cano the founding father of fundamental theology. - Title with rebacked marginal cut-out, here and there with old marginalia, endpaper with entries on blindtooling. Binding rubbed and corners somewhat bumped, spine somewhat stained, clasps removed. Inner boards with large contemp. woodcut armorial bookplate of a bishop "Marcus. D. G. Eps. Liden. Suffraganeus et decanus Basiliensis."
Second edition of the classic, first printed in Salamanca 1563. With woodcut printer's device. Contemp. pigskin over wooden boards, richly blind- and rollstamped. - Title with backed marginal section, some early marginalia, endpaper with entry concerning the blindtooling. Binding rubbed and somewhat bumped, spine slightly stained, clasps removed. Pastedown with large contemp. episcopal bookplate in woodcut.
