Characteristic work, the strong minimalism makes it a particulatrly expressive work by the protagonist of the Italian "ZERO" movement.

"The choice of the ellipse is partly random and partly a result of some of my experiences. [..] I always loves this avoid shape and even if i sometimes employed round, rectangular or square shapes, I always went back to the ellipse, especially after verifying that the canvas moves better id shaped by an ellipse rather than by a circle. The ellipse exerts its pressure gently and appears a little assymetric.. a circle is harder, because it is round. The ellipse is sweet, instead, and I sort of fell in love with it."
