Vierte lateinische Ausgabe des Kommentars zu Dioscorides. Mit der seltenen Apologia (mit separatem Titelblatt), in diesem Exemplar vor die Commentarii verbunden. - "Matthioli's Commentarii was one of the most successfull of the early herbals and was printed in many editions and translations .. the title is somewhat misleading as the book contains an account of all plants known to Mattioli; in fact all the early herbals were in a sense commentaries on Dioscorides, since the elucidation of his description was a prime purpose." (Coll. A. Plesch) - Fehlt der Drucktitel zu den Commentarii . Tlw. leicht fleckig, zu Beginn wasserrandig, ca. 15 Bll. angerändert, Kopf- und Seitensteg knapp beschnitten (gedruckte Randnoten vereinz. betroffen). Insgesamt sauberes Exemplar mit den schönen Pflanzen- und Tierholzschnitten.

Vellum binding with old material. - Partly slightly stained, waterstained at the beginning and with ca. 15 remargined leaves, cropped close (occasionally affecting the printed marginal notes).
