NOW MORE THAN EVER - PIN. AUCTION WILL TAKE PLACE!

* Pioneering event- and auction concept
* Sharp funding increase
* Ketterer Kunst as new auction partner

Munich, May 26, 2020 - Everything is different this year, but the eagerly-awaited annual charity auction 'PIN. Freunde der Pinakothek der Moderne e.V.' in November 2020 will definitely take place. The motto is "Now More Than Ever. The Entire Life is Art". - and it could hardly be more fitting.

"We did not only conceive a whole new concept for our 18th charity auction and were able to win a new partner. We will also clearly expand the longstanding commitment of our association," says Dorothée Wahl, chairwoman of PIN. "Artists, galleries and collectors form a closely knit network with the museums, we want to live up to this with our new concept for the benefit of all. This is going to be the first time in our long history that consignors can have their substantial share in the auction result if they wish." Helping PIN. means helping others and yourself.

PIN. has been a patron of art and culture in Munich for 55 years - a story characterized by a readiness to assume risks, private commitment and a passion for the contemporary.

"We feel obliged to continue this story. We won't turn our back on the museums that we support, as they need us more than ever in these times of very scarce resources," explains Dorothée Wahl.

"I am very happy that we were able to win Ketterer Kunst as the perfect partner for this ambitious project," says Dorothée Wahl, "If we plan to combine the legendary evening sale, which regularly grossed more than 1 million euro over the past couple of years, with an innovative digital sale, the internationally successful auction house Ketterer Kunst is just the right partner. Robert Ketterer, owner of the renowned Munich family enterprise, knows both worlds by heart."

Robert Ketterer is very excited about this fantastic project: "The PIN. auction is a great honor for my team and me. We will give it our all to make this new format a big success for PIN., its projects and supporters as well as the art world in general."

The new concept of the PIN. charity auction is nothing less than groundbreaking and will begin with an exhibition of all consigned works at the Pinakothek der Moderne on Saturday, November 7. The two-week preview period includes guided tours by curators and celebrities, interviews with artists and gallery owners, a virtual exhibition tour and evening events for small groups of supporters and members in the run-up to the auction. The Online Only Auction will run parallel and end on Sunday, November 22.

The traditional gala evening of the charity auction will take place in a completely new makeup. While last year's 'PIN. Party' attracted more than 800 guests to the rotunda of the Pinakothek der Moderne in Munich, the crowd will have to be reduced to a much smaller size by the current state of the situation.

However, it will still be possible to feel the excitement and to participate, as the saleroom auction will be streamed live on the internet so that art lovers can place their bids online or over the phone.

"This is going to be the first time that the saleroom auction is not an exclusive event for attendant bidders, instead everyone can contribute a share and help. Modern technology offers fantastic opportunities in times of crisis," PIN. chairwoman Dorothée Wahl rejoices.

"We will provide a very special atmosphere," Robert Ketterer promises. "The excitement, thrill, hammer prices and aid for art will be just as strongly perceptible in the saleroom, on the phones and via live-stream as they will be in front of the PC, tablet or smartphone. What matters is that people will join in with hearts and wallets wide open."

Just like it was the case in the past, hammer prices will not be subject to additional fees, which makes the hammer price the final invoice price. This allows both online and offline bidders to buy art at best possible conditions and to do a good deed at the same time.
