Ph Broking as guest at Ketterer Kunst in Berlin

Photographic Soul Whispers
Berlin, 24 July 2013 (kk) – They are polarizing, unexpected, authentic – the photographs by the six international artists that will be shown by Ph Broking Modena at Ketterer Kunst in Berlin-Charlottenburg from 5 October to 2 November. Most of all, they have one thing in common: They touch the beholder's soul.

Alena Adamchyk from Belarus has a polarizing perspective on the female sex. In 2004 she made her most famous project "Women of Europe", followed by the series "Women of Monaco" in 2009. Returning from a visit to Beirut last year, she eventually created the book "Women of Lebanon".

Women are also in the focus of the Iranian Majeed Benteeha. His works are an expression of revolt against the orthodox views still prevailing in his home country. He employs hints at religion and society, using the veil and what it covers or shows in order to express his respect for women in his very own manner. At the same time he reveals the contrast between traditional and modern realities, the inner tensions omnipresent in Iran today.

The works by Ghigo Roli are centred on Art and Nature. The photographer shows a heightened sensitivity in capturing both the soul of a landscape and its inhabitants as well as the soul of masterpieces which have defined the history of art. Ghigo Roli loves beauty and harmony in Art and Nature. His talent has enriched many high quality art books in Italy and abroad. In Germany his photographs have been published by Hirmer Verlag in Munich.

Riccardo Varini, the second Italian in this exhibition, is also strongly coined by his love for nature. His poetic works make the observer reflect. His art is calm and dominated by a passion for the small things, which is also reflected in the title of his book "Silences", which he already published at a young age.

On contrary to the aforementioned, the creations by the Israel native Eitan Vitkon live on surprises. His exhibitions carry promising titles such as "Meduza Hope", "Photography of Illusion", "No Masks", "Memories in a box" or "Wander Fool". In his own visual language the wild artist succeeds in capturing the most versatile aspects, uniting them in a profound oeuvre.

Zhu Yu from China likes to explore uncharted spaces and places. In doing so, she at times spends a month on a dog market or some weeks in a darkroom. In 2012 the impetuous artist worked in Ai Weiwei's studio and he told her that she was too impatient. Without further ado, she decided to change this. Meeting a silkworm breeder she grabbed the opportunity and for months patiently fed thousands of silkworms every day. Her success proves her right, as her work is filled by an authenticity that can only result from such an uncompromising openness and willingness to change.

As different as the six artists may seem at first sight, they all share a focus on man and nature, on inner and outer landscapes. They are fascinated by life itself, a life that makes their works pulsate and vibrate.
