Harbinger of Spring: Haring and Vasarely for less than € 500
(aabykk) - By March 3, 2007, spring will be in the air, courtesy of art.auctions by Ketterer Kunst. Starting at 4 pm, stellar works by world-famous artists will be sold online under the auspices of the forthcoming Old Masters, Modern Art & Post War - and for really affordable prices, too. More than 160 objects will go under the virtual hammer online for less than € 500 each.
The concept of "Affordable Prices for Big Names" is becoming increasingly popular with both private bidders and art dealers. Young collectors especially, who are irresistibly drawn to art but are on a limited budget, will find some bargains here.
Two silkscreen colour prints by Keith Haring - advertising the 1983 Montreux Jazz Festival, for instance - at only € 320 for the pair.
Victor Vasarely’s artist designed plate for Rosenthal "Leben und leben lassen - lieben und lieben lassen" ["Live and let live - Love and let love"] might be yours for just € 250.
At only € 400 for a set of four, colour offset postcards by Gerhard Richter all sport his autograph.
Along side works dating from the 15th to the 19th centuries, including some by Johann Georg von Dillis, Johann Christian Reinhart and Jonas Umbach, the auction has a stunning selection of Modern and Contemporary Art from such distinguished practitioners as Joseph Beuys, Marc Chagall, Salvador Dalí, Max Ernst, Lyonel Feininger, Rainer Fetting, Karl Hartung, Erich Heckel, Friedensreich Hundertwasser, Horst Janssen, Martin Kippenberger, Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, Henry Moore, Blinky Palermo, Sigmar Polke, Kumi Sugai, Jean Tinguely, Marc Tobey and Andy Warhol.
All objects are on view under "art.auctions Old Masters, Modern Art & Post War" at www.kettererkunst.com. Bids in writing can be made there as of now under "detail views" or directly at www.kettererkunst.com/auction/bids.shtml. If you want to bid live online, you will find more on this from February 21, 2007 at www.kettererkunst.com.
Pre-sale viewings of all objects are scheduled for February 22 and 23, 2007, from 11 am to 5 pm in our Hamburg showrooms at Meßberg 1.

Since it was founded in 1954, Ketterer Kunst has been firmly established in the front ranks of auction houses dealing in art and rare books. While the Munich headquarters in the Prinz-Alfons-Palais is responsible for the two traditional annual auctions of Modern Art & Post War, the Meßberghof in Hamburg is the venue for two auctions a year in each of the following fields: Old Masters and Art of the 19th Century / Marine Art and Rare Books - Autographs - Manuscripts - Decorative Prints as well as Modern Art & Post War, with a focus on works on paper. In addition, exhibitions, special auctions, benefit auctions for charity and live auctions online are regular events at Ketterer Kunst.
