Signed and dated lower right. On laid paper by Arches (with watermark). 21,2 x 33,5 cm (8,3 x 13,1 in), the full sheet.
This gouache has to be seen in connection with a whole series of watercolors from 1951, they were published in a small book called "Bilder aus Ischia", Baden-Baden, in 1953. [DB].
We are grateful to Dr. Klaus Kleinheisterkamp, administrator of the will of Werner Gilles, for his kind support in cataloging this lot.
