Ordnung in Eesachen. With armorial woodcut on title . No place, date and printer. [Tübingen, Ulrich Morhart? Between 1534-36]. Unstapled. 4to. 6 unnumb. ll. (last blank)Not in VD 16, not in Schottenloher and Heyd. - The first printed protestant 'matrimonial law' (Eheordnung), released before the first official edition from 1553 (VD 16, W 4518). This draft was written by Erhard Schnepf in co-operation with Joh. Brenz, S. Grynäus, M. Bucer, A. Blaurer and Melanchthon. "It is known that the draft was submitted to Ambrosius Blaurer, Martin Bucher, Simon Grynaeus and perhaps to several others and that Duke Ulrich of Württemberg asked Philipp of Hessia as late as June 5, 1536 to send him the Hessian Eheordnung for comparative purposes. It is generally assumed that disagreement over the provisions of the regulations postponed their publication at least until after that date. Though it is likely that copies were circulated for criticism in manuscript form, it also appears possible that the Eheordnung had been printed in draft form while still being reviewed and to an experimental adoption, i. e. between December 22, 1534 and the fall of 1536." (R. Hirsch, The first printed protestant Eheordnung, in: Gutenberg year. 1953, pp. 96f.) - Of greatest rareness, only four other copies ae known : that is inthe University Library Basel, Württemberg State Library. Stuttgart (2 copiues) and University of Pennsylvania Library. A facsimile was released in Frankfurt in 1987, published by C. Schott. - Last ll. with slight browning, else well-preserved and untrimmed sheets. The first printed protestant 'Eheordnung' (matrimonial law), printed before the first official edition from 1553. Extremely scarce, only 4 copies are known. With woodcut coat-of-arms on title. Unbound sheets. 6 nn. leaves (last blank).
