(Paris 1951). Loose layers in orig. wrappers and orig. half vellum boards in slipcase (defective). Folio.
Monod 9049. - Strachan p. 330. - Rauch 40. - 1 of 50 copies with the two extra suites of the etchings on wove paper by Richard de Bas and the woodcut vignettes on Malacca teinté (GA 326). - "Derain's ability to create atmosphere is similarily demonstrated in the line-engravings on copper to the Petronius. In the clear Mediterranean light, scandal is - this time - seen to be done; no shadowy ambiguity in these monumental, witty delinations of male and female figures ... This book which was selected for exhibition in the 'Edition de Luxe' section of the Brussels World Fair in 1958." (Strachan p. 142) - Lower outer margin slightly browned in places.
